Like Shining Stars

“At that time there shall arise Michael, the great prince, guardian of your people; it shall be a time unsurpassed in distress since the nation began until that time. At that time your people shall escape, everyone who is found written in the book. Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake; some to everlasting life, others to reproach and everlasting disgrace. But those with insight shall shine brightly like the splendor of the firmament, and those who lead the many to justice shall be like the stars forever.”

A passage of Scripture that addresses “a time unsurpassed in distress since the nation began” doesn’t seem an introduction to visionary encouragement. The twelfth chapter of Daniel, however, includes a wonderful passage of hope to those who have served and lived for the Lord. Every faithful parishioner experiences days when the value and importance of ministry service is in question. Well, whenever you feel that your efforts are unappreciated, that your work has gone unnoticed, remember you “will shine like stars forever and ever.”

This devotional article is taken from the Total Stewardship curriculum of the Diocese of Baton Rouge, one of dozens of devotional pieces that support resources designed for the Stewardship of Prayer, the Stewardship of Ministry, and the Stewardship of Finance.
