Planned Giving

A Family-First Philosophy

They say charity starts at home, and that can be especially true during uncertain economic times. If you’re worried that you won’t be able to provide for your family, you might overlook a gift to the organizations and causes that also need your support.

The Lost and the Strays

The Lost and the Strays

“Thus says the Lord God: I myself will look after and tend my sheep. I will rescue them. I will lead them out. I will bring them back. In good pastures will I pasture them. I myself will pasture my sheep; I myself will give them rest. The lost I will seek out, the strayed I will bring back, the injured I will bind up, the sick I will heal (but the sleek and the strong I will destroy), shepherding them rightly.” The Old Testament prophet Ezekiel revealed the Father as the great shepherd and his people as his sheep.

The best leaders set a standard of selfless care and direction. They lead by example, serving their constituency and serving staff members, as well. But, none meet the standard set by God, the Great Shepherd. It is commonplace for many in leadership to routinely clean house, removing the ‘lost’ and the ‘strays.’ That isn’t the way with the Lord. He actually seeks out the lost, the strays, the injured, and the sick. Ever felt lost, or wounded, broken or hurt? The great Shepherd is on a mission, seeking you out to restore you and return you to his good pasture. That’s an example of care and leadership worth following.

Stewardship Today is a monthly devotional newsletter designed to assist Catholics everywhere in developing a greater understanding of the role of stewardship in everyday life.
All we are, and all we possess, are gifts from God for our use and for the blessing of others. Through wise stewardship, we invest our time, our talents and our treasures to the glory of God.
